Stevens Auction Company is pleased to announce the commission to sell at public auction museum quality furnishings fromt the estate of the late Gene Ward of Ripley, Mississippi.

Mr. Ward was born in Benton County, Mississippi in 1930. He moved to his home in the Gravestown community when it was built in 1938. Mr. Ward began working for the Ford dealership in Ripley in 1949. He became a partner in it in 1964, and was involved in its operation the rest of his life along with many other business interest.

Gene began collecting cut glass, his first love, in the early 1960s. He later expanded his purchases to antique furniture, silver, porcelain, and other objects d'art. He traveled extensively in his lifetime often making trips to Europe, New York, Chicago, New Orleans, Montreal, and San Francisco where he acquired much of his collection.

Gene added a wing to the rear of his home in the early 1980s, providing him with additional living and dining space, along with a paneled den with showcases to display his acquisitions. His home and its contents stands as a monument to his loveof beauty and desire for gracious living. Over his many years of collecting he compiled one of the most sophisticated and elegant collections this company has sold to date. There will be no additions added to this auction with all items selling absolute with no reservere. with the exception of the real estate.

There will be two open house previews.

The first is on Sunday, September 25, 2016, 1-5PM, and then again on Thursday, September 29, 2016, 10AM to 6PM.

Individuals interested in bidding on live auctioneers must register 12 hours prior to the auction in order for your bid request to be approved. Doors will open at 8:00am on both auction days. The property is under heavy security due to the high value of items to be sold.
